Learning Journey to Kampong Glam: Durratun's Journal

On Monday 26th July,

I went on a school excursion to Kampong Glam near Geylang Road. The early morning sun peered through the hills as it left the horizon. Soon the dark became brighter and brighter. After the flag rising, Mdm Hasnita brings us back to class and share about the tips there. We listen carefully and the bell rang.

We quickly went to the General Office. Then we saw the tutor Untie Suzanna. The bus finally arrived; we quickly rushed up the bus and dozed to Kampong Glam. Inside the bus Untie Suzanna told us where we are going at the Kampong Glam. She told us that we are going to a mosque, a palace and other more. Then she said that we were going to eat Malay tradisional food like nasi lemak and other more. She said no McDonald or KFC. Finally we arrived to the Kampong Glam. First we went to the Arabic School, she said that the children there are learning Arab but now days they are learning Mathematic, English and Science in Arab. In the olden days there were boys but these days there were no boys but girls. The school was born in 1984. How lucky they are!! Next we went to the barber. The barber was very cheap in the old days for only 30cents but now $5. How far was that cost? Then we went to a mosque. The mosque was called Masjid Sultan or Sultan Mosque. The mosque that we saw was the new mosque made of plastic and ceramics, the old mosque was a three angle and made of woods. Untie Suzanna also said that the poor gave the new mosque plastic wild the Europe gave lots of money to build the mosque. We went in the mosque we saw the Mecca. Next we went for a break, I went to buy the nasi lemak and it cost not expensive only for $2. After that we went to the toy shop Untie Suzanna told us how to play the games. There were gasing, 5 stones and many more. I never bought anything!! Next we went to the palace; we saw the palace where Sultan Stays but now it wasn’t a palace but a museum. WE saw the glam tree and what is the tree use for. We also saw the boats where pirates used it.

Then the bus had come. Then we went back to class, we have mother tongue so we tell them the story and they were amazed. We felt tired but had a great time. Tomorrow 3C and 3D were going for the trip. Wish them luck.
